Agriculture & Foods Consultancy Opportunity at CCARDESA Secretariat under the CAADP-XP4 Project, Botswana

The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) has received financing from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) equivalent to €5,370 Million towards the cost of Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme’s Ex-Pillar 4 (CAADP-XP4) Project, and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this grant towards eligible payments under this contract.

The project seeks to deliver five (5) key outputs including one on improving the capacities of CCARDESA and the other organizations in competencies required for the successful implementation of the Project such as technical and organizational capacities in gender, infrastructures, coordination, multi-stakeholder project management, resource mobilization, fiduciary processes, and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL);

The specific objective of this assignment is to undertake capacity gap assessment (CGA) and develop a comprehensive Capacity Strengthening Plan for CCARDESA. The CGA will assess the organizational, individual, technical, and functional capacities of CCARDESA and its selected regional and national level partners to implement CAADP XP4 project efficiently and effectively. 

The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested consultants should provide information (Comprehensive CVs that show description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions) demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services.

The shortlisting criteria are:

  • A minimum of a Masters degree (or its Equivalent) in Agricultural Policy, Human Resources Management, Development Studies or any relevant field.
  • At least Ten years’ experience in the agriculture policy and development; preferably in capacity development, capacity assessments and developing capacity development plans,
  • Ability to organize meetings, calls and documents that may require the input of multiple sources,
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team,
  • Experience in similar assignment (capacity assessment for organizations),
  • Experience in agriculture policy analysis and formulation,
  • Experience on sample design and data collection methodologies including online data collection techniques as well as development of survey tools,
  • Experience in working in Southern African countries,
  • Experience in gender and youth mainstreaming will be an added advantage.
