Conferences GLF Africa 2024 Hybrid Conference| Greening the African Horizon

When: 17 September 2024

Where: Nairobi, Kenya, or online

On 17 September, join Global Landscape Forum  for a global conference to find out how Africa can navigate the future of three shifting landscapes: forests and savannas, drylands, and freshwater and oceans.

In Nairobi, Kenya, or online from wherever you are, you’ll be joined by thousands of people gathered to forge a prosperous and sustainable future for Africa’s land- and seascapes, powered by local solutions.

The climate crisis is taking a toll on Africa – and especially on rural communities that depend on natural resources for their livelihoods. How should the continent respond to these challenges, and what lessons can it teach the rest of humanity?

I. Event themes

  • Sustainable agrifood systems:  How can we deliver healthy, sustainable food for everyone while providing decent livelihoods for farming communities?
  • Scaling landscape restoration:  Over 45% of Africa’s land area is already degraded. It's time to change that by scaling up locally-led solutions and innovations.
  • Governing the just transition:  Leave no one behind: find out how we can make a greener future work for everyone.
  • Partnerships and finance:  The global climate and biodiversity crises need a concerted effort. Discover how we can build partnerships to fund Africa’s green transition.
  • Rights and livelihoods in shifting landscapes:  Africa’s landscapes are changing. How can we adapt in a just and equitable way?
  • Technology and data:  There’s no silver bullet, but AI, data and technology can be powerful tools for sustainable land use.

II. How to join the conference?
