IFSA Internship at the IUFRO Headquarters, Vienna, Austria

Paid IFSA Internship at the IUFRO Headquarters, Vienna, Austria

Deadline: 13 May 2023

For several years, the International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO), as one of The International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA)’s professional partners, has been offering an internship opportunity to students from IFSA Local Committees. Each year, one student has the opportunity to work at the IUFRO headquarters in Vienna, assisting with diverse projects within IUFRO and getting an insight into the work of an international organization.

This year, one internship will take place for two months. The intended internship period is from September 1 to October 31 of 2023; however, IUFRO is closely following the recommendations of national and international public health authorities concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and dates of the internship offer may be adjusted according to health and safety developments, and could be remote. In view of this, candidates with availability later in 2023 are also encouraged to apply.

The tasks of the student intern mostly consist of office work, such as assisting with the preparation of reports, supporting IUFRO-led projects and events, and translation of documents.

IFSA is able to support the intern with a stipend to partially cover the subsistence costs during the internship period. The successful applicant will be informed about the exact amount upon being notified of acceptance. The intern will be stationed at the IUFRO HQ at Marxergasse 2, 1030 Vienna, Austria.

II. About IFSA

The International Forestry Students’ Association is one of the largest international networks of students in forestry and related sciences. IFSA is a globally organized and locally operating students’ organisation connecting forest and related science students to their peers and forest related organisations and policy platforms.

With more than 130 member associations also known as local committees (LC), spread across over 50 countries, IFSA unites thousands of students in their endeavour to learn about forests, cultures and the environment. IFSA is a non-political, non-profit and non-religious organisation that is entirely run by students.

In IFSA we seek to create global cooperation among students of forest and related sciences, to broaden knowledge and understanding and a space for youth in international forest processes to achieve a sustainable future for our forests. Through our network, we facilitate student meetings, enable participation in scientific debate, and support the involvement of youth in decision making processes regionally and globally.
