The United Nations World Food Programme is currently seeking to fill an internship position under the WFP Programme Unit. The position will be based in Kigali, Rwanda. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting from July 2022.

I. Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate programme from a recognized university and have completed at least 2 years of studies, preferably in political science, social sciences, community development, public policy, international development, development studies or related fields.
  • Must have attended courses in the last 12 months
  • Recently graduated from a graduate programme (within 12 months) prior to application of internship programme
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Fluent in English (both oral and written)

II. Key responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Social Protection Programme Policy Officer, and in close collaboration with the Strategic Outcome 2 Manager, the intern will carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Support in delivering an international conference on social protection and disaster risk management in collaboration with various units in the Country Office as well as external suppliers and international guest speakers;
  • Support in coordination of partnership meetings and development of communication and engagement materials such as briefs, case studies, and documentation of lessons learnt in WFP Rwanda's work in social protection;
  • Support in social protection project management, including by participating in planning, implementation, and narrative and financial reporting of social protection activities
  • Support in organizing trainings and workshops for government and non-government stakeholders; and
  • Support on special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
