INBAR is seeking an Intern for technical support to research and program activities implementation in headquarters office in Beijing, under the supervision of Senior Programme Officer. This position will be for an initial term of 3 months, with the potential to extend based on program needs. The Intern must be working in the office at least 3 days per week.

I. Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze data on consumption and production of bamboo and rattan products, key value chains of bamboo industry and set up dataset;
  • Analyze the international and domestic markets of selected bamboo products for targeted regions/countries;
  • Develop and write reports that analysing relevant policies, regulations and practices concerning international markets and determinants;
  • Assist to organize/attend relevant meetings, seminars, and conferences;
  • Develop communication materials including project news, fact sheets, stories, photo and video, and other materials in Chinese and translate documents from Chinese to English and from English to Chinese, as needed;
  • Travel to project sites when needed;
  • Other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

 II. Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in international economics and trade, marketing, business administration, environmental economics or related field; or minimum 3-5 years of work experience in the abovementioned fields;
  • Proven technical abilities to conduct research and critical thinking for drawing solutions to international market and trade related issues;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to liaison with various stakeholders (government, research institutes, NGOs, industry, and local communities);
  • Ability to conduct interview or market surveys.
  • Excellent English oral and written skills and high-level of technical writing proficiency;
  • Self-motivated, well-organized with the ability to work independently and efficiently in order to meet deadlines and requirements;
