WorldVeg seeks to employ a Postdoctoral Scientist –Healthy Diets to strengthen the ability of the Center to provide evidence-based solutions for making vegetables more available, affordable, accessible and desirable in lower-income countries. The role will focus on understanding and improving food environments and consumer behavior in a food system context.

The incumbent will be based at WorldVeg headquarters in Shanhua, Taiwan or at one of the Center’s regional offices in Bangkok (Thailand), Hyderabad (India) or Arusha (Tanzania). The person will contribute to projects across Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, and will report to theFlagship Program Leader –Healthy Diets

I. Key job responsibilities:

1.Design and undertake qualitative and quantitative studies analyzing food environments and consumer behavior for vegetable-rich healthy diets in low-and middle-income countries, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.2.Design and coordinate evidence-based interventions into food environments and consumer behavior, including Social Behavior Change Communication and Social Marketing approaches.3.Coordinate with research partners and in-country stakeholders to ensure continuity and inclusiveness of research operations.4.Contribute to project management and research fundraising efforts acrossprojects.5.Provide guidance to colleagues and partners on issues of healthy diets, food environments and consumer behavior.6.Perform any other duties as required by the needs of the Center.

II. Eligibility

Candidates must have a recent PhD degree in Food Systems, Public Health Nutrition,Development Studies or a related discipline with a strong focus on applied behavioral research. The candidate should have demonstrated experience and interest, including academic publications, in mixed-methods research on food system issues with relation to healthy diets. She/he must have strong communication skills in spoken and written English; other languages may be an advantage. The candidate must be able to work with multidisciplinary teams in a multicultural and multinational environment, and be willing to travel extensively.
