INBAR for an upcoming project “Increasing local communities" resilience to climate change through youth entrepreneurship and integrated natural resources management (ACREGIR)”, under the auspices of the Adaptation Fund (AF), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED) is looking for a Technical project assistant to assist in day-to-day implementation of the upcoming project activities.

I. Key Information

  • Location: Yaoundé, Cameroon
  • INBAR Department: Global Program
  • Report to: Director, Central Africa Regional Office (CARO)
  • Duration: 12 months renewable, with three-month probation.
  • Salary ranging from USD 400 – 550 per month, commensurate with skills and experience.

 

II. Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, execution and reporting of the activities undertaken in 03 project sites: Waza, Benoue and Kimbi-Fungom.
  • Support in recruitment of a local executing partner in the Northwest region specialized in executing activities in high risk zone.
  • Provide support in recruitment of external consultants including drafting terms of reference, contracting and delivery of all outcomes of service contract.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of external consultants ensuring all deliverables are handed in on time and that all financial transactions and payments are done in respect of ACREGIR’s and INBAR’s standards.
  • Support the effective execution and achievement of indicators of the ACREGIR project.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly technical and financial reports of all ACREGIR activities executed by INBAR,
  • Prepare monthly stories, including blogs and other forms of communication products for dissemination.
  • Represent INBAR at meetings, workshops, supervision mission and audit field mission organized by implementing agency,
  • Undertake other related tasks as required by INBAR CARO Director.

III. Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in implementing livelihood and environment development projects.
  • Proven ability to manage time well, and work with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the area of natural resource management – e.g., propagation, sustainable management, and value chain development.
  • Experience of working on bamboo and, or, other related Non-Timber Forest Product (NTFP) value chains would be a strong advantage,
  • Computer literacy including working on digital content management and video conferencing.
  • A degree in environmental science, sustainable resource management or another related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French required.
  • The successful candidate should be willing to undertake extensive travel in Cameroon.
